If I

I've been told if I sat in a regular chair, I'd pass.
That's supposed to be the thing to do, isn't it?
Pass for able-bodied.
Oh yay! Let me torment myself for years
trying to be something I'm not.
I've been told if I wasn't in a chair, I'd be a catch.
That makes me feel just great, doesn't it?
Passed over for being unable.
Okay! Don't you dare think of me as a
sexual being with the same needs you got.
That would mean saying we're akin,
more than you imagine

and

That would mean equality rules,
slaying your fixed views.

I've been told if I hide myself, then I'd be seen.
A modified version of who I am, wonderful
Looked right through.
Joy! It's harder than you think hiding
in the shadows with the other Damned.
I've been told if I de-flawed myself, then I'd be loved.
A hollow shell of who I am, beautiful
Looked right past.
Boy! How could you think for a minute that
maybe I'm perfectly fine just how I am.
That would mean changing your view,
changing the very core of you

and

That would mean growing up,
growing the ability to be touched.
