The Morning Jog
Sometimes I'm disciplined enough to get up early and go for a jog before the rest of the day unfolds. It's not that often, but when I do I feel more perceptive, more alert, more at peace for the rest of the day. I feel like I know something that everyone else does not. But I don't feel smug; just content, because everyone else will discover this new knowledge one day too.
I fell in love with a girl once, and I'm certain it was her morning jog alertness that I was attracted to. She was graceful and perceptive and alive, with a knowing smile that said, "Yep, I ran through the park at 6am this morning, I know what you know too..."
