Prague

A voluptuous lunar allegory, the curve of her bodice mimic's the swell of the full moon. A horned crescent perched atop her head evokes a pagan and fetishised concept of womanhood.

A baroque Madonna enthroned and crowned, holding the Christ Child toying with the scales that will judge men's souls. The seriousness of the theological subject is contradicted by the lightness of stonemason's touch. Cupids, curlicues, swirls and cherubs adorn the pair.

A stately yet playful ewe. Whether indicative of Agnes Dei, the Lamb of God - or merely a bucolic reminder of a long ago resident's pastoral origins, it's backward glance and be-ribboned neck bring to mind the richness of the surrounding Bohemian countryside.
