Thunderbird Speling Glitch

Certain readers of this online journal may consider me to be unfairly anti-Microsoft. This is not true. One of my best mates from high school now works for the software juggernaut. I remember I saw him a few years ago at a friend's wedding and asked him, while he was espousing the admirable traits of what the company was achieving and how it was helping the entire world, if he ever looked critically at any of Microsoft's business practices. If I recall correctly we got into an argument when he accused me of suggesting that he had been brainwashed, and I don't think we've spoken since.

But anyway, I'm getting off track. If there's something second-rate about another company's products, or an open source application that I feel like commenting on, then I'm happy to do so.

Like this little dialog which made me chuckle today. I was typing an email to a friend in Mozilla Thunderbird, and I actually used the word 'Thunderbird' in my message.

Well wouldn't you know it?

Cuts n Bruises

What a crap couple of days! It's not very often I'll say that, being a generally cheery optimistic half-glass-full kind of guy.

Friday night riding my bike home from work, my tyres got caught in a tram track and sure enough, off I came over the handlebars to a skidding halt. Nothing broken, but some nice grazes and bruises on my knuckles, knees and elbows. My shirt was nice and shredded and my handlebars will need some coaxing back into position too. Ack.

And then today I go to put up the curtains in our bedroom, and clumsy idiot me smashes the glass dome surrounding the light switch with the curtain pole, so that a dozen shards of glass come crashing down on top of me. A few cuts here and there for my trouble. Of course not all of it came down, so I had to remove the remaining broken glass from the light socket, and succeeded in slashing my wrist in the process. Unbelievable.

Grrr.
